Wayne Bank Supports Fourth Annual Scranton Half Marathon

Scranton, PA – On Sunday, April 2, Wayne Bank employees cheered on the over 2000 participants of the Fourth Annual Scranton Half Marathon while passing out free bananas.

Led by Community Office Manager, Matt Swartz, employees distributed 80 pounds of bananas to racers in need fuel as they passed by Wayne Bank’s Central Scranton Community Office at mile 5.5, on Adams Avenue across from the Courthouse.

“We are thrilled to be able to support this positive Scranton event every year,” explained Matt. “We have a speaker system with upbeat music and our employees have so much fun cheering on the racers and passing out bananas. It also gives us an opportunity to support our own Senior Vice President and Director of Human Resources, Ryan French, who was one of the runners this year.”

The Scranton Half Marathon highlights the local area, bringing increased exposure and revenue for local businesses. As a nonprofit organization, proceeds from the 2017 event will benefit the continued development of the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail.

Wayne Bank is a subsidiary of Norwood Financial Corp., Member FDIC, and is located in Honesdale, Pennsylvania. The Bank has 26 Community Offices serving Wayne, Pike, Monroe, and Lackawanna Counties in Pennsylvania, along with Delaware and Sullivan Counties in New York State.
