Wayne Bank Supports the Greater Pike Community Foundation - EIO

Honesdale, PA – Lewis J Critelli, President and Chief Executive Officer of Wayne Bank, is pleased to announce that the Bank will support the Greater Pike Community Foundation - EIO with a donation through the Educational Improvement Organization Program.

Jenni Hamill, Executive Director of the Greater Pike Community Foundation, accepted a check in the amount of $10,000.00 from Mr. Critelli.

The gift was made possible as a result of the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program offered by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, acting through the Department of Community and Economic Development.

“Wayne Bank is proud to be able to support the valuable work of the Greater Pike Community Foundation through this program,” stated Mr. Critelli. “We are so pleased that this contribution will aid Delaware Valley students with exciting new initiatives this year.”

This contribution will further integrate and support Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (S.T.E.M.) programs for Delaware Valley students in both the high school and middle schools. One undertaking will be the purchase of technologically advanced digital microscopes that will capture the interest and imagination of 21st century students in high school Biology classes. These will provide learners with the ability to visualize and then share dynamic cellular processes, such as osmosis, via the classroom’s digital whiteboard or even a smartphone. The Delaware Valley Science Summer Camp, a weeklong activity for children in grades 6-8, will also benefit from this contribution. Planned hands-on activities will include the collection of water samples from the Delaware River to study water quality, a field trip to a local mineral mine to explore the properties of rocks and minerals, and the building of a robotic vehicle to understand gears and engineering skills.

Wayne Bank is a subsidiary of Norwood Financial Corp., Member FDIC, and is located in Honesdale, Pennsylvania. The Bank has 27 Community Offices serving Wayne, Pike, Monroe, and Lackawanna Counties in Pennsylvania, along with Delaware and Sullivan Counties in New York State.
