Wayne Bank Will Collect Items for Wayne County Food Pantry During Honesdale for the Holidays

From November 24 – December 1, Wayne Bank’s Honesdale Main Street Community Office will collect non-perishable items for the Wayne County Food Pantry, during regular lobby hours.

These dates coincide with the Greater Honesdale Partnership’s community event, Honesdale for the Holidays, which will take place on Friday, November 24 and Saturday, November 25. Featuring the annual Santa Parade and tree lighting, Honesdale for the Holidays will also include special events and open houses at local shops, restaurants, and organizations.

Wayne Bank’s Honesdale Main Street Community Office will host an open house in the lobby, during business hours on the 24th and 25th, with refreshments, giveaways, and plenty of holiday cheer. The event is open to the public and anyone who brings in a donation for the Wayne County Food Pantry during this time will also receive a special Honesdale ornament designed by local artist, Justin Roach, while supplies last.*

“This holiday season we want to give back to our local community by doing something special to help support those in need,” explained Jill Hessling, Wayne Bank’s Honesdale Main Street Community Office Manager. “The Wayne County Food Pantry is a wonderful local organization that is vital to the communities it serves. We encourage everyone to stop by our lobby with some canned goods or shelf-stable items. We’re promoting donations during Honesdale for the Holidays, but we will also continue to accept donations during the following week so that everyone who would like to has a chance to donate.”

The Wayne County Pantry Program is sponsored through County Government and operates under a Board comprised of private citizens, who also coordinate each of the pantry sites. The Wayne County Pantry Program has five sites located in strategic areas of the County to serve eligible County residents, including Honesdale, Lakeville, Newfoundland, Lakewood, and Damascus. All donations stay in Wayne County and assist Wayne County residents. Donations of food, paper products, personal care items, and money to purchase foods are needed year-round.
