Wayne Bank Supports the Runners at the Scranton Half Marathon

Scranton, PA – On April 12, Wayne Bank employees spent Sunday morning cheering on the runners and providing bananas for the over 3,000 participants in the race.

Stationed in front of Wayne Bank’s office at 216 Adams Avenue in downtown Scranton, bank employees led by Community Office Manager Matthew Swartz and Director of Human Resources Manager Ryan French, employees distributed over 80 pounds of bananas to potassium-starved runners. Fellow runner Ryan French noted that “The Scranton Half Marathon is a destination event for endurance athletes. We are very fortunate to have one of our community offices on the course. Our location on Adams Avenue gave our employees a great vantage point to cheer on the athletes and provide them with some much needed calories to help them complete the challenging 13.1 mile course.”

The Scranton Half Marathon is a great cause that benefits the continued development of the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail, part of a seventy mile multi-purpose trail system that follows the Lackawanna River. A recreational treasure in the County, the trail continues to grow in both length and popularity.

Wayne Bank is a subsidiary of Norwood Financial Corp., Member FDIC, and is located in Honesdale, Pennsylvania. The Bank has fifteen Community Offices in Wayne, Pike, Monroe, and Lackawanna Counties. The stock trades on the NASDAQ Global Market under the symbol – NWFL.
